wolfSSL is initiating support for OpenTitan, the open-source silicon Root of Trust. Our implementation will integrate with OpenTitan’s hardware accelerators, specifically the OpenTitan Big Number (OTBN) unit, AES, and HMAC/KMAC blocks, to offload cryptographic operations from the host RISC-V core. This integration provides a transparent, FIPS-ready security stack for embedded designs.
The programmable OTBN unit enables efficient execution of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). We aim to support accelerated lattice-based algorithms, including ML-DSA (Dilithium) and ML-KEM (Kyber), directly on the hardware. This architecture addresses requirements for the EU Cyber Resilience Act and FIPS 140-3 standards without reliance on proprietary security modules.
